I am new to recycling and thought this product would be an incentive. I don’t actually see the advantage of this product over just using regular recycling bins.
It won’t mash any of the plastic bottles I’ve tried. It holds very few paper recycling products, considering its size. I would have returned it when it arrived, but postage would have been so much, it was like a catch 22. Anyway, I have it in the laundry room, I can’t imagine any kitchen it would fit in. It is not being used as a recycling center, more like a storage area.

My first one arrived damaged, so I had to return it. Amazon processed the exchange quickly and without fuss or fee.
If you are neat and highly organized (or trying to be), are tired of having to pick garbage from the recycling, compostable paper from the garbage and or recycling, are sick of stacks of garbage mail on random surfaces in your home are tired of talking your loved ones to death about where the garbage/cans,bottles/compost/paper goes (or sick of them asking you where it goes) and are without a garage to store the unsightliness of recycling or have been otherwise unwilling to recycle because of the mess and general disaster that the process makes of your kitchen then this product is for you. It makes recycling almost fun (even for adults) and is neat, clean and slick looking.
I combined the Mode Recycling center with the Simple Human Recycling pail with 2 inserts. I use one for compostable paper egg shells and what not and the other for garbage (Amazon didn’t offer prime shipping on the two pail model and Simple Human does). I put the fruit fly attracting/gross compostable stuff in leftover chinese paper containers in the freezer till it’s time to take the compost out (lazy but effective). If you never order take out, keep it in ceramic and line with a paper bag or napkin and nuke for 30 sec before you toss it.
People talk about this Mode Recycling Center costing so much money (and it does), and having many plastic parts (which it does). Even with the cost think usage. You will use this thing several times per day. More than you probably use any other appliance in your home besides the fridge. With the weight being as it is (even with all the plastic) free shipping is great with Amazon Prime. All this from a lady who never spends more than $50 on a pair of shoes.
Added cool benefit that I didn’t expect, there is a removable/adjustable divider for the paper so when you put stuff in the mail slot it separates from stuff you put in the main paper bin, so we save that slot for stuff to shred. How neat is that?
I got the can crusher model, which is mostly a waste since I don’t use many cans and it doesn’t crush liter plastic bottles well. I crush the plastic by hand. So I’d recommend the other cheaper non can crusher model unless you use a lot of cans, but I didn’t want to exchange it again.
All that and my husband has only asked me once where everything goes and hasn’t gotten it wrong yet in 2 weeks. It’s a miracle. And, it’s cheaper than blood pressure pills, divorce court (kidding) and a crappy looking kitchen

This product does an excellent job in compacting Cans and Plastic Bottles. The foot operated pedal is very simple and easy to use and really cuts down on the amount of volume I have.
I love having a unit that you can actually store paper/plastic/metal/glass in one place, and I actually now have a place to recycle my junk mail, which I was to lazy to do before because a lack of place for it.
I do recommend using the back bin with the recyclable bin liners. This makes taking the recyclables to the curb so simple. You just pull out the bag and drop it directly in to the recycling bin.
The other nice feature is the removable bin for the paper, I just pull it out to empty it. Nice little feature!
Another nice feature is the recycle day reminder…I always use to forget in the morning and now the unit reminds me with a flashing light on the day I need to take care of the recycling…so I don’t miss it. One less thing to remember.
If you are looking high end looking recycling center with all the bells and whistles then this is a great product.

It is easy to use, and so convenient.
I was surprised by how much it holds.

I have a real problem getting my kids to recycle. They have a hard enough time remembering to throw anything away when they’re done with it, much less separate out what can be recycled. We bought this for our house and it’s improved our family’s effort towards environmentalism. The kids especially like the can-crusher (which unfortunately makes them want to drink more soda, but that’s something else we can work on). It’s easy to empty with the removable containers. Also, in our neighborhood, they pick up recycle and yardwaste every-other week, and the built in screen makes a good reminder of which week is what. This really helps us out.
